Collaboration with Extend-A-Family Kingston

January 4, 2022

Our world is at a critical turning point with Covid-19 pandemic hitting our most vulnerable populations even more than in the past. So, how can we at Dunya Habitats help build a better future, and help reduce food insecurity in our local communities?

We are pleased to announce the collaboration with Extend-A-Family (EAF) Kingston as part of the Kingston Community Climate Action Fund (KCCAF) initiative.  Extend-A-Family Kingston is a non-profit that provides individuals with disabilities and their families with coordinated access to regional services, respite, inclusive programs, and opportunities for personal growth, development, and achievement of life goals.

Extend-A-Family will be incorporating Dunya Habitats tinyFarm system into their initiative to support local food security and lower expected carbon emissions associated with food transportation.  The project will help support approximately 120 families year-round with fresh nutritious fruits, herbs and vegetables.

In addition to promoting local food security, the project will be supporting organizations like Partners in Mission Food Bank and the Community Food Redistribution Warehouse, which will receive produce from the Extend-A-Family greenhouse.

If you are interested in supporting the Extend-A-Family project, please check out the Kingston Community Climate Action Fund to donate.
